FEELING SPRING >>> We're here to procreate, and seldom above making a show of it.

the morning after the night before >>> Still in bed.

"What just happened? Two days ago everything was, well, as fine as it could be. Now everything is FUCKED UP!!!"

Rolling over.

"I need some juice."

CLEANING HOUSE >>> Does anything feel better than getting rid of all of that useless stuff? Man, do I love throwing things out. Back to basics, clutter-free. More room for what really matters. Removing the junk.

@ @ @ waking up @ @ @

ON DOING THINGS WELL >>> One of the best parts about doing something you really care about is that when you really, truly, do (care), you can get focused on making what you're doing great and let go of the all that external stuff - praise, profit, glory.

Then, when you're done and feeling proud you can take a moment to look outside of what you're doing to think, "You know what else? Other people are going to like this...some are going to love it...and they were the ones who I was doing it for. Them, and me."

OUR BAD DREAM >>> I've been hearing for years that the Democrats are the spenders. They're for big government, and Republicans are for smaller. And so how are the Republicans going to pay for their massive tax cut, which will benefit mainly the rich? They're going to cut spending, right? Because they're the responsible, low-spending, small government party, right?

Then how come the budget that President Bush is bringing to Congress includes a 4% increase in spending? Here's a thought...because he's full of shit, that's why. The President is full of shit.

This tax cut and budget are Bush's big lies, and he's going to get busted for them, for sure. Watch the whammy it's going to put on our economy as he re-inflates the National Debt. Running up a credit card that the next generation will have to pay. It's so amazingly sad. People are buying his military spending malarkey, standing by as he pumps up pet Republican industries like the oil companies, nuclear power and organized religion. Even his education spending is a Trojan Horse for pumping money into private schools via vouchers. Yucky, yucky, yuckorama.

This guy sucks. We traded a President who fucked over his private life for one who's going to fuck up our entire nation. Our environment. Maybe the world. Because his policies are so odious, Russia is becoming the leader of the United Nations. Maybe it's for the best. Our President is an idiot, a liar, a puppet and a pawn.

STATUES WITHOUT ARMS >>> So poignant. It is an artistic fact that the most inspiring sculptures do not have arms.

I mean, why have arms if you can't move them? Powerful, powerful stuff.

FLICKAGE: "MEMENTO" >>> I wasn't quite sure about this film as I was watching it, largely because the person who watched it with me was busy loathing every minute. Upon reflection, I liked this film for its inventiveness, complexity, and the feeling you get when you watch it, trying to figure out what's going to happen next. Which, in "Memento," is really what happened first.

The film stars Guy Pearce ("Priscilla, Queen of the Desert," "L.A. Confidential") as a former insurance investigator with a rare mental condition that's zapped his short-term memory. To compensate, he resorts to a combination of snapshots, handwritten notes, and tattoos that remind him who he is, where he lives, who certain people are, etc.

If you think this sounds like a gimmick, you're right. The film is told from the present to the past, with each scene ending just moments after the point where the previous scene had begun. Confusing, yes? The film's a brain-teaser for sure. And you need to concentrate to pick up the clues that will help you understand what really happened. Even then you may not quite get it.

Such is the genius of this film. Profoundly disorienting and defying simple explanation, it left me feeling unsure of what I'd just experienced, the causes, the culprits. Ever try to figure out exactly what was going on in a certain situation but you can't quite get to it because the memories are cloudy? This movie re-creates that feeling in a very clever way. I'm going to go see it again to try to sort it all out.

GARY SINISE'S EYES >>> Have you seen those things? Big, old, red bags underneath them. They hurt me just to look at 'em. Ouch.

@ @ @ the ad (revisited) @ @ @

KIDDIE PORN >>> Who has the nads to love pop's naughty, little schoolgirl as much as Bob Dole's dog? She is the musical equivalent of a Pepsi.

@ @ @

SIX DISK CHANGER >>> Time for another infusion:

1. Pete Yorn, "musicforthemorningafter"
2. Badly Drawn Boy, "The Hour of Bewilderbeast"
3. Wagonchrist - "Musipal"
4. Elton Plotz, "More, More, Less"
5. Ministry, "Psalm 69 - The Way to Succeed and Way to Suck Eggs"
6. Mogwai - "Come on Die Young"

7. Bjork, "Greatest Hits" (homemade)

More daytime, less clutter. Must be spring.

Oh, and Go Duke!!!

D.
